At the end of the fourth day of the rain-plagued second Test on Monday, India had taken complete control of the match as star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claimed two quick wickets to reduce Bangladesh to 26 for two in their second innings.

Bangladesh is still 26 runs behind. Ashwin’s two-wicket haul (2/14) did the damage.

Previously, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fierce fifties gave India the upper hand.

India declared their first innings at 285 for nine, leading by 52 runs, with to the contributions of Jaiswal (71 off 52 balls) and Rahul (68 off 43 balls). With 35 balls, Virat Kohli scored a smooth 47.

Veteran left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan (4/78) and off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz (4/41) each took four wickets for Bangladesh to restrict the free-flowing Indian hitters who were scoring more than eight runs per over.

Bangladesh was earlier bowled out for 233 in their opening innings.
